MoonRise's Feature Stone...
The featured stone is Purple Crazy Lace Agate. This agate is actually color
enhanced Mexican Crazy Lace Agate and is normally white and opaque with swirling
patterns. To emphasize these beautiful patterns, the purple color has been added.
Color enhancing is common amongst agates to make them fashionably relevant.
Although the colors are enhanced, the healing properties remain. Lace Agates are
said to keep the wearer well-balanced while helping to banish fear.
The history and legend of Agate dates back to early 300 B.C. Agate has been used
during pregnancy with benefit to both mother and child, alleviating discomfort
during the gestation period. It has been used to treat headaches and dizziness.
Those with impaired balance issues will find it beneficial in restoring their
equilibrium and those who suffer from skin problems will also see improvement in
their condition. Agate helps the wearer differentiate between true and false
friends. It is said to prevent miscarriages, protect children and bring about
prosperity. The belief is also held that agate can avert storms and lightning
(something we here in the Pittsburgh area can certainly hold onto). Agate Chakra
classifications relate to the solar plexus with red agate and blue agates are
associated with the throat. Astrologically, Taurus, Capricorn and Scorpio will
benefit by wearing this stone as it helps them to sensitize and strengthen their
willpower. Agates were used by the Egyptians to make scarabs and are among the
oldest stones used for good luck and healing.
