  March Stone of the Month – Blue Tiger Eye

  Blue Tiger Eye is a "Pseudomorphous" stone. This means that blue Crocidolite is replaced during the growth process by Silica (Quartz). This stone can be found in Canada, India, Namibia, South Africa and the good old USA.

  The Tiger Eye stone gets its name from its resemblance to an eye when the colored inclusions are cut in a certain way appearing much like a cat's or falcon's eye. Over the past hundred years or so it is very much sought after for use in jewelry making because it has many therapeutic purposes.

  Tiger's eye is very effective when used as a healing stone for bronchial problems and it is believed that asthmatics should always carry tiger's eye as should those who suffer from migraines and chronic headaches. Tiger's eye is very effective in promoting concentration and lifting depression. Metaphysically, Blue Tiger Eye is said to be a very soothing stone and is helpful in reducing stress, easing anxiety and increasing a feeling of well-being and calmness.

  This quartz family member is a real show-off. The silky, shimmering cat's eye effect is caused by hornblende fibers that all crystallize in the same direction. It is symbolic of unity and autonomy. The star sign Virgo associates particularly well with this lovely stone but we can all use a little of its soothing qualities not to mention pairing it with some gold or copper metal components.
